Payactiv Signs MOU with the State of Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection
On July 21, 2025, Payactiv signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the State of Maine Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection, ensuring the company can continue to offer its earned wage access (EWA) services in the state.
Through the MOU, Payactiv agrees to uphold a number of best practices and consumer protections already embedded in its product. Payactiv will also regularly report data on the company’s EWA services to the Bureau. The MOU acknowledges Payactiv’s EWA service is non-recourse and involves no worker repayment obligation, no possibility of default, and no engagement by the company in third-party collection activity.
Payactiv welcomes the collaboration on this MOU to ensure Payactiv’s EWA service remains available as an employee benefit in Maine and looks forward to working with the Bureau on legislation in the upcoming session.
