Indiana Governor Mike Braun signed into law the country’s ninth statutory framework regulating earned wage access (EWA) today, joining California, Nevada, Missouri, Kansas, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Utah, and Arkansas in creating a distinct regulatory framework for EWA providers.
Named the Indiana Earned Wage Access Act, HEA 1125 creates a new licensure for EWA providers that encodes many of the existing industry best practices, including ensuring EWA remains a non-recourse, credit-invisible, consumer-friendly alternative to high-cost lending products, like payday loans.
Payactiv applauds bill sponsors Representative Jake Teshka and Senator Kyle Walker for championing this important issue for workers. No changes are required for Payactiv’s EWA program or our employer partners, and the company expects to become a licensed EWA provider soon.
