Payactiv is Now Officially Registered as an Earned Wage Access Provider in Utah
Effective June 17, 2025, Payactiv is now a registered earned wage access (EWA) services provider in Utah under the state’s Department of Commerce. This follows the Utah Legislature’s passage of HB 279 on March 25, 2025, which received strong bipartisan support.
In enacting this new regulatory framework, Utah lawmakers have taken the important step of recognizing EWA as a new, innovative financial product that helps Utah workers access their own wages and avoid high-cost debt products like payday loans to bridge gaps between paychecks.
As a registered EWA provider, Payactiv commits to upholding important consumer protections outlined in the new law. These are consumer protections that Payactiv already provides to all its users. There are no product changes required for Payactiv or our employer partners. Payactiv is proud to be a registered EWA provider in Utah.
